The red chord fused together in revolving doors rar
For the most part the lyrics will disturb the average listener with bold descriptive pieces such as: "Avarice and stubbornness converge into stupidity. In two we have begotten our desserts and transform. As we become food for the earth and for the rats. I never forget a face and this time I'm taking names - this time I'm Screech and pop of this hollow shell would have provided escape for the fortunate.
The skin peels away - as I spill your guts. AriDoe 4. Shadows 4. These days, it is extremely difficult to find a metalcore act that really does stand out from the crowd. There are the legendary metalcore acts that have been around since before the genre caught on like a plague; Poison the Well and Norma Jean to name but a couple.
On occasions, one of the newer metalcore acts will make a lasting impression on more than just scene kids; All Shall Perish being the prime example. But a lot of these bands fail miserably at one of the most important aspects of being a successful and interesting metal act; ingenuity and creativity.
Fused Together In Revolving Doors is an album that showcases nine tracks of brutality, quirkiness, ingenuity and general excellence. As soon as the opening maniacal seconds of Nihilist have eaten your ears away, you know that this album is going to be far from your typical "chug-chug, wee-wee" affair. In all honesty, the only reason The Red Chord are sometimes labeled metalcore is that they they use a few breakdowns here and there. It is more likely that self-proclaimed fans of the band who have only ever heard material on Clients or their most recent effort, Prey For Eyes and thought "oh look, another metalcore band".
But the question is, what makes this album so good? Well, in short, every track offers something. Oh, and every track is very good. Throughout the nine tracks, listeners are treated to a number of things prevalent in a wide array of genres. You've got your death metal riffs, your hardcore riffs and a huge number of eargasmic pinch harmonics a band trademark. The drumming is also a massive plus point of the band - always unpredictable and very infrequently uninteresting, fans of complex and intricate drumming will cum their pants listening to this.
Some of the speed of the double bass patterns is actually inhuman but what makes it more remarkable is that it doesn't detract from the rest of the band. The vocals jump between death metal growls, intelligible guttural low-register vocal shenanigans and schizophrenic highs.
Guy is mostly certainly a good vocalist even if the style he decided to adopt on Clients was decidedly less kick-ass than on here. However, it was rumoured that Gunface did the high vocals. Well, whatever, they sound awesome and are put to good use throughout the album. The guitars are also, in short, fantastic. Gunface and Johnny pumped out all number of ridiculously heavy and brutal riffs on Fused - highlights include the epic Sixteen Bit Fingerprint and the undeniably catchy riffathon that is Dreaming In Dog Years.
But they don't just stick to heavy power-chord workouts - the middle section of Sixteen Bit Fingerprint showcases an incredibly simple yet brilliant two chord strumming pattern. Coupled with the tasteful drumming and vocal montrosity of Guy, it really does prove that sometimes simple is best. Other quirky guitar segments include the hilarious opening of Dreaming In Dog Years and the beautifully jazz-inspired interlude of L Formation. Odd yet ultimately compelling. Such these qualaties are found in their music.
You probably would not have a breakthrough album, if you do not have a certain breakthrough track to carry the album out. For instance, when I first checked out their most popular track 'Dreaming in Dog Years,' I had believed this is what really carried out the entire album.
At first a skeptic, I didn't think the album, and band themselves, were all they were cracked up to be. I found this to be the most contrary to my prior opinions. If you have any doubts like I did, then no problem. It just wouldn't hurt to see how great this album and band are. Wether or not their follow-up to "Fused Together I get the impression that people think that The Red Chord is a revolutionary band with the ability to be leaders in the extreme metal scene.
Maybe, maybe not. First of this is some great musicship. Guy and Mike's vocals is very good. Mixing harsh growling with angry screams is fitting in perfectly. The riffs are outstanding. Heavy and varieted, alot of sick brakdowns and groovier parts that keeps my interest up. Watch out for some odd guitar tones that I so far have some small problem with. I mean the nervous tempochanges ofcourse. Well, the bass-play is good, audible for the most. Listen closly for small bass-tricks.
Definitely not a let-down what so ever. Mike, the drummer Wow, crushing drumwork. Probably inspired by earthquakes and other natural catastrophes. He grinds and blast like a mentally deranged person.
He ever does some calmer and rhytmic parts to. I always skip this mellow-out-junk. Otherwise I recomment to check The Red Chord up. It can be fun Oh, it took ages till this musically masterpiece got to my ears, I guess this album was released over a year ago in the States.
They also added a brand-new layout that looks different to the American one. Two members of Beyond The Sixth Seal? But those five guys from Massachusetts are breaking boundaries between all different styles of extreme music and formed nine devastating bombs! In just 30 minutes they show the world what's the real deal, it's one of the most brutal and ass-kicking records I heard.
They try to go new ways and don't just play the known stupid rhythms, hard-hitting and fast grind meets short interludes, moshing hardcore parts and a lot, really a lot tempo-changes.
I know I am a follower!! Seriously now, I think this LP has been heavily overrated. When I first heard it, I was a bit suspicious, then it grew on me, but now I find it boring. I was interested in it for about 5 months or so. The band are 3 times more powerful and impressive live than they are on CD. Maybe that's because when they recorded, Guy only had a week or so to practise and get it all sorted out.
You can even hear his voice is more powerful live these days. There are two things that really stand out for me about this band:- 1 The lyrics. They are very original and different. Quite brilliant in places, but simple in others, good meaning. Each song is about something different, which is fairly rare these days. They honestly make me want to kill. So powerful. The one on "Like A Train Through A Pigeon" being fucking brutal, especially with the vocals over the top of the riffs. The level of technicality is quite good on this LP, nothing special at all though.
Good song writing I suppose, but done through simplicity. Though, in saying that, I am sure one of their new songs live had the most interesting, great bass playing based breakdown.. Have to wait to see for that. This album right here is nice. Very, very nice. It has redeeming points, but it has flaws at the same time.
More of the former, of course. In no way is this brutal, but it does succed in blending a nice form of your normal death metal, and some grind elements.
The vocals are only "meh" but riffs.. The drumming is top-notch too. Good transitions between this and that, and with such high use of grind elements, the drumming HAS to be good to be listenable at all. Everything works its way to generally creating a nice tempo.
Songs like Nihilist open pretty fast, and prog themselves into a slower, heavy tempo. These don't last all of too long, breaking into something faster, then maybe going back for a second look at the car crash that is their grinding riffs, held with some other nice death riffs and drumming that utilizes styles from each, and pretty well.
Bust this into the second track, with its short sample opening, then this queer little slow grind riff, that busts into some speedy shit once again, about twenty seconds later. This band can form some crazy music. Other tracks are a bit weaker, but even those are above average. A nice little thing to pick up if you want nice switch ups from one style to the other and back. I still can't stress that the vocals detract from the rest of the music.
They still remain to be pretty nice, but almost all the other music surpasses them in sheer goodness. Definatly pick this up. Thats another thing not to stress.
