This belt guard is very heavy duty cast iron. Designed in the stylized 40's Deco Aerodynamic trend. The guard was stripped to bare metal with abrasive media. Then primed with auto primer and painted. All threaded holes were chased with a tap and all the screws run on a die.

There are no cracks or welding. One iron ear was replaced with cold roll steel by a machine shop. They did. Nice work. Mounted on a drill press you probably wouldn't notice the different material on the one ear unless.
