Samba locked file list truncated

The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:. Files slightly over 4GB tend to truncate, I expect some kind of wrapping occurring as it depends on how much over 4GB the files are depending on what size download you are getting. I'm also confident it's not likely caddy the server i'm using for the proxying as i've just proxied a much larger 10GB file from a different backend through it without issue.

Sorry, something went wrong. CC icewind Ok, so if I understand well it's not sharing, but downloading on the regular file list also truncates the file? Do you have the php5-libsmbclient module installed? I'm seeing something similar since I upgraded to 8. The file that gets downloaded appears to be correct, but is truncated to the improperly-detected length.

Attaching to the samba share directly reports the correct length and transferring the file over it results in the entire file arriving properly. I've tried upgrading apache and php on the owncloud host to no effect. I'll try upgrading samba at some point, but there's currently a dependency snarl going from samba3 to samba4 that will take me a little while to iron out.

I found some links that might be interesting to check if the SMB server is in windows:. Is the returned size always exactly the same MB value at the byte level or does it vary between say MB and MB during each try? If the value is random, it could be related to timeouts. PVince81 I'm facing the same problem since month, for exemple, on a 6.

When I put the same file in an Owncloud user's directory so out of the samba share the download is done proprely. So it's only when I request SMBclient that it doesn't work. Looks like I have the same problem, Ubuntu Running latest oc installed via apt-get, php7.

If you need any info please let me know. Any additional information is appreciated. If you're using the php-libsmbclient library, could you try the 0. Host: Ubuntu All packages from standard repos updated to latest version. Folders shared via samba 4. LXC guest: Ubuntu OC installed via apt-get form OC repos, latest version. All dependencies installed from standard packages. PHP 7. Same config as you, just the web server is an nginx.

With php-libsmbclient it seems that the problem desapeared TY for your help , juste have now a less severe problem, the Web interface doesn't show correct file's sizes. This will be the user the who is locking the file. You can also check what other files this user has opened by inspecting smbstatus results or running:. If possible, ask user to close all files opened from this particular server. Finally, to unlock all files this user has opened, run.

June 4, In modern samba versions and linux distros file locking is in the default config. See my edit - they'll all be windows. Sorry for all the commenting, but what applications are having problems with this?

I never experienced problems with WinXP and serveral standard apps, incl. Of course applications could be ill behaved, just make local temporary copies and close the file, hence no lock.

I've just been testing with Notepad - [sorry if this is overtly noobish] I though locks were enforced by the OS or filesystem, not individual programs. Add a comment. Active Oldest Votes. Improve this answer. Jasper Jasper 1, 9 9 silver badges 10 10 bronze badges.

I was considering that, but most, if not all files we'll be working with are binary, so I wanted to try and look for another solution first. Luckily, as far as getting people to use it, its another person and I starting a small business, so it shouldn't be too much trouble.
